Tysk polis hanterar G8-kritiker som terrorister

Tysk polis slår till mot olika radikala krafter i syfte att hitta information om aktiviteterna kring det stundande G8-mötet. Sven Giegold från Attac Tyskland rapporterar att de inte blivit drabbade men fördömer likväl räderna som redan fått internationell uppmärksamhet:

“Dear friends,

On Wednesday the police has raided more than 40 book shops, housing
co-operatives, info centres, anti-racist initiatives in order to get
hold of information on the radical anti-g8-activities. All this was
justified with the “formation of a terrorist organisation”.

Attac offices were not raided. Also NGOs in the movement had no
trouble. Nevertheless, we interpret this “attack” as an intentional
try to scare, discourage and split the movement.

You find below our press statement attached in which we criticized the
raids as unreasonable and condemned the terrorism link. It was widely
taken up on TV, radion and in national newspapers.

Some international media reactions:

Please, do not get discouraged: Come to the G8 protests. For all key
events, including the bis demonstration on the 2nd of June, all
involved groups agree on a non-violent action open for everybody.”

  1. Förutom razziorna i Tyskland har den holländska polisen slagit till mot en fredlig cykelkaravan i staden Utrecht (klicka på mitt namn för att komma till artikeln, där man även kan se hela händelseförloppet inspelat på film).

    Under veckan har flera solidaritetsdemonstrationer hållits runt om i Europa med anledning av den tyska polisens razzior, bl.a. i Berlin med c:a 5000 deltagare och i Hamburg med c:a 3000 deltagare. I Stockholm samlades under lördagen (den 12 maj) ett hundratal personer, och tågade mot tyska ambassaden. Det hela ska ha gått mycket lugnt till.
